We’ve been at this business of ebikes for a long time, and so it’s quite a treat when we get pleasantly surprised about a new arrival. Such is the case with the Magnum Payload. It’s a very competent full size cargo bike that’s very easy to ride and comes with a had-to-do-a-double-take of a low price. I expect this to be a very popular bike here in our region.
The Payload is a full size cargo bike that rides more like a standard length bike than any other long-tail I’ve ridden. It has plenty of power for your hauling needs and comes equipped with many standard features that are add-on accessories (extra cost) from other brands – front frame mounted rack, rear running boards, and bamboo panels throughout. The Das-Kit 48V 500watt power system has 6 levels of pedal assist as well as a manual throttle. In PAS mode the bike will reach 25 mph, which is great on longer rides. Conversely, the bike can be configured as a Class 1, 2, or 3 ebike as needed. Tektro hydraulic disc brakes keep things under control and Shimano handles the 8 speed gearing setup. The bike has front and rear lights, a simple suspension seatpost, and alloy full fenders.
We’ve had two dyed-in-the-wool full-size cargo bike owners ride the Payload and both came back with resounding two-thumbs-up approvals of the bike. Magnum has succeeded in crafting a cargo bike that we think will appeal to the widest audience of riders of any cargo bike to date. If you want full size hauling capabilities, easy riding characteristics, and a very reasonable price, the Magnum Payload could be the bike for you.
